Domain Name Renewals & Control Panel

We are implementing an automated system to process domain name renewals. Customers will receive an automatically generated email regarding domains which need to be renewed and will be offered a link to our new control panel to choose the renewal length and to make payment, with an immediate confirmation that your domain has been renewed. We will be sending logins for our new domain name control panel to all Customers: please keep your login details safely and securely as you will need them later. The Control panel also offers a number of additional features to help you manage and make the most of your domains - we'll include instructions and more details in our next mailing.

Self Service Support Area

Our online support area has been enhanced - please log in to take a look. You can now add comments to cases, and upload attachments in support of your question or issue for us to look at.

Spam Mail Filtering

We have been carrying out extensive work on the spam filtering capabilities of our mail server to optimise your service. Unwanted spam email costs time and money and this is especially true for the increasing number of you using mobile devices to collect your email.

While no spam filtering technique can ever get it right 100% of the time, we've received extremely good feedback from you on the changes we've made recently. We've now updated our spam filtering to provide you with the ability to check your own spam mail if you want to.

Inbound messages identified as spam are now placed in a special "sub-mailbox" called "Spam" which you can view using our Webmail system. Just log in at http://webmail.dtdigital.net as normal using your full email address and password (it is case sensitive) and click the "Spam" folder to see the messages the mail server prevented from being delivered to your Inbox.

If you find a message you want to keep, select the tick box next to the message(s) and then choose the option at the bottom of the page to "Move to..." and "Inbox" from the drop down menu. Then, if you "Send & Receive" your email in your mail program, those messages will be delivered to you immediately.

Messages identified as spam are deleted on a weekly basis to prevent your mailbox filling up.

Log into Webmail to check for spam messages you want to keep.

SMTP Authentication

Please check your settings to ensure "SMTP Authentication" is turned on.

We've received a number of queries recently about the ability to send email using our SMTP server instead of the one supplied by your Internet Service Provider, and also regarding errors when trying to send mail with our server.

Please take a moment to check that one particular setting is switched on in your mail program (this does not apply to you if you only use Webmail).

In Outlook 2003 this setting is found by clicking Tools > Email Accounts, then Next, select the mailbox in question, click Change, and then finally click 'More Settings' and you'll find it on the "Outgoing Server" tab.

The setting is called 'My server uses SMTP Authentication' and should be switched on as shown in the screen shot. If it is not, you may receive an error when you attempt to send email.

Hosted Exchange Services

We're now able to offer hosted Microsoft Exchange as an optional upgrade to your hosting package.

With Exchange, you can view your email, calendar, tasks, and optionally those of your colleagues while away from the office - fully synchronised with your desktop.

For instance, if you send an email using the web interface while out of the office, that email will automatically appear in your "Sent Items" folder in your desktop back at the office.

Exchange Server takes email to the next level. You get to keep on using Outlook as your desktop mail program as you have done, and you'll find the web based version very easy to use since it looks and behaves almost identically.

If you're interested in upgrading to Exchange, get in touch.
